What We Do and How We Price It

Aurora Concrete Contractors handles residential flatwork on the Illinois side of the Fox Valley: new and replacement driveways, backyard patios, stamped surfaces, front walks and stoops, floors for detached garages and sheds, and repairs to slabs that have heaved, dropped or flaked.

Our starting point is the climate. Wikipedia's climate table for Aurora puts the January average low at 16 degrees and yearly snowfall near 28 inches, which adds up to months of freezing, melting and salting. A slab built for that needs three things nobody sees once it is poured: a stone base that drains, enough thickness for what will sit on it, and air-entrained concrete. Those are the last places to save money.

Our approach, in plain terms

  • Look before pricing. We measure on site and work out why the old concrete failed: water, soft ground, roots, missing joints or salt.
  • Price on paper. The quote breaks out demolition, base, slab thickness, steel, finish and sealing, so two bids can be laid side by side.
  • Public versus private. In Aurora the apron and the walk across your driveway are shared with the city. We mark that line and point you to the Driveway Assistance Program before work is scheduled.
  • Permits checked, not assumed. Aurora, the villages around it and unincorporated areas each have their own rules, so we confirm what your address needs.
  • A care sheet at the end. You get dates for foot traffic, cars and sealing, plus advice for the first winter.

If leveling or resurfacing will fix the problem for less, the quote says so.
